JRA: Nursery / Pre-K: Allison Vance

Dear Parents,Hello and welcome to the 2009-2010 school year.  My name is Allison Vance and I am excited to begin my fifth year at JRA.

Here is some information about myself.  I was born and brought up in Scotland and I came to do volunteer work in America in the summers of 1994 and 1995.  It was during that time that I met my husband, Vince, and we were married in 1997.  My husband is a check airman for Netjets Aviation based out of Columbus, Ohio.  We have one son, MacKenzie, who is in 5th grade at JRA, and he is such a blessing in our lives.  This will be his sixth year at JRA and my fifth.  During my five years at JRA I have worked with all grades, but I have the most pleasure with the little ones in the school.  This will be my third year as a Preschool teacher.

I have a M.S. degree in Hotel and Catering Management from Dundee University, Dundee, Scotland and a teaching Certificate in Further Education from Jordanhill Teaching College, Glasgow, Scotland.  Prior to coming to America, I worked in Hotel Management, and during the last nine years I taught Hospitality and Tourism related subjects at Perth College.  Since I have been at JRA, I have completed the Florida childcare courses and will continue my interest in childcare education.

I have many interests but my main interest is music.  I enjoy singing and playing flute.  I am a member of The Sarasota Choral Society.  I am very active in my church and thoroughly enjoy family fun and laughter.  I also like to assist my husband in his new video production business.

I am honored and pleased to be part of the JRA family and team, and I hope that every child will come to experience the love and care that my family and I have received during our time at JRA.
