JRA: Middle School: Steve Weitzel

Dear Parents,

Hi, my name is Steve Weitzel and I am the 4^th-8^th grade social studies teacher.  I have been working at Julie Rohr Academy for eight years and look forward to another exciting adventure filled with learning, discovery, and collaboration among families, students, and staff.  I joined the staff and have felt part of a second family ever since.  The environment at JRA is welcoming, creative, accepting, and innovative.

I graduated from Taylor University with a degree in Christian Education.  From there, I realized that my passion was social studies and continued my studies at Manatee Community College, taking all the necessary classes to be able to work at Julie Rohr and embrace history. 

As coach of the boys' and girls' basketball teams and the girls' volleyball team, we have a lot of fun learning the fundamentals of the sports and competing against other schools.  We have made it to the playoffs and I look forward to another successful season.

I am blessed with a wonderful family.  My wife, Cyndi, is also a teacher.  She works at Tatum Ridge Elementary teaching first grade.  I have three amazing children.  My son, Colton, is nine years old, Taylor is five, and Karlee is three.  I spend most of my spare coaching my son's baseball team and spending time with my family.
