Artsonia: View Your Child's Artwork Online

Julie Rohr Academy has become a member of Artsonia.com, the largest online student art museum.  Artsonia showcases artwork from thousands of schools around the world.  Our goal is to develop students’ pride and self-esteem, increase their multicultural understanding through art and involve parents and relatives in student education and accomplishments.
Artsonia preserves students’ privacy and anonymity by listing the artwork only under the student’s first name and a number.  Last names are never revealed.  If you do not want your child’s artwork to be published online, please advise our art teacher, Katina Shanahan, and any information pertaining to your child will be removed.

Sarasota County Fair Art Exhibit

Congratulations to all of our artists who submitted artwork to the Sarasota County Fair Art Exhibit.  JRA students won twenty-four 1st Place Ribbons, twenty-five 2nd Place Ribbons, fifteen 3rd Place Ribbons, and fifteen Honorable Mentions.

One of the reasons our students won so many art awards is because of our wonderful art teacher, Mrs. Shanahan and another is because of the frequency of the art classes.  I do not think there is ANY public school that offers daily classes in art, music, PE, Spanish and computer and very few private schools offer these daily either.  But we feel these classes are IMPERATIVE to have a well-rounded and confident child, so we will continue these classes as other schools cut them out.  This is one of the important differences at JRA.  The family atmosphere and the strong performing arts program are the other major differences.

JRA won the Sarasota County Speech Contest!

We are very excited to announce that Julie Rohr Academy was the only private school to participate in the Sarasota County Speech Contest and WON!   Eight public elementary schools and three public middle schools participated.  Participating schools hold classroom contests and from the classroom winners, a school-wide contest is held.  The school winner participates in the county contest.  There are two divisions – Elementary (4th and 5th grade) and Middle School (6th) grade.  We were the only school to have entries at both levels.  The contest was held April 14th and Julie Rohr Academy’s contestants BOTH won first place!  It was a sweep!  Congratulations to 4th grader Thomas Sinclair and 6th grader Axel Hawkins.  They have much to be proud of!  Of course, their teachers, families, classmates, and principal could not be more proud of them as well!
